11.01.2007 Raging fury finishes TSS! by Dalrek

Back from being MIA, so I better make the update I promised everyone. I can only agree with what Damide said on the Tide page. Not even the best movie director could have staged a better finish than we saw on finishing TSS on Antonius Bayle. It was really a close race.

Raging Fury chose a different path when it came to priorities in regards to Ashengate vs Frostcrypt. It is always a tough decision. How long can you keep working on one specific mob when there is a whole other branch to explore and conquer? With the risk of falling behind, we chose to stay in Ashengate and finish Lethar 2 before starting a new progression path. Luckily it paid off. With hard work from the RF team, we beat Lethar in early December and started working on Frostcrypt access. We entered Frostcrypt just before our x-mas break and ended up clearing the first instance in a few days, but getting stuck on not receiving the flag we were supposed to on Lorekeeper Grenwald

After our holiday break, we came out with all guns blazing. People eager to raid, with renewed energy after being pushed hard to finish FC flagging. Finally we could do what we do best instead of doing weird quests. It was time to kill some big bad guys. We redid the first FC instance on a Tuesday, got the first 4 events in FC2 down on Wednesday and Thursday and faced Beltron the Shadeking on the Friday. Impressive job from all our members. So we start from scratch on Shadeking and 2 first attempts get him to 70% and then 60%. Time runs out and we go back to the drawing board and rethink the tactics needed for the fight. After clearing re-popped events for a few days, we get back to Shadeking...only to have the event crash the zone and having to end the night because clearing back will take too long. This happens a couple times and we end up having to do re-popped events again. Yay! In the meanwhile, Tide kills Shadeking and although I would have loved to be first on him, I will be the first one to congratulate Tide on the accomplishment and my gratz tell was sent not because it was the right thing to do, but because we know what it takes to do it. Every guild that kill end zone bosses among the first 5 or 10 guilds have busted their asses off to reach that point and deserve recognition

Shade King Alive

We think we found out why the instance has been crashing on us and we get to try out our new tactics. Each try getting him lower and lower. We are aware that Tide is working on Lethar at the same time and while I prefer to focus on our own performance and not on other guilds, I would be lying if I said its not a motivation to me to have a goal and some friendly competition in reaching that goal, in this case being the first guild on AB to finish The Serpents Spine expansion. We go again, getting him below 40%, losing people along the way...getting him to 30% and things start getting scary....20% and things are out of control. With Beltron at 3% and desperately trying to squeeze out the last DPS we need, we realize we need one more minor adjustment and we have to take the wipe. But instead of pointing fingers and blaming each other, we can see how close we are and everyone gets that extra boost they need to go again even though its starting to get late and we know it will probably be the last attempt of the night. We can't let him stay up!

Shade King Dead

Last try.....We get Beltron the Shadeking down. And not only did we get him down, we destroyed him! You get the feeling that everything is going smooth and when you see the Main Tank still standing proud with Beltron at 20% and below, while not seeing people spamming raid say with names of those who died, you know its a done deal. The best feeling there is and a nice adrenaline rush. With this last kill done, I'm proud to say that Raging Fury is one of the still very few guilds that have finished The Serpents Spine expansion completely. Thanks to the competition for keeping us on our toes and pushing us to continuously improve and give our best. And big gratz on Lethar guys.

Last I am proud to say that with the help of DeIllusional our Raging Fury Item Database is now up to date and includes TSS loots as well. Enjoy!

11.02.2007 Recruiting for TBS is open! by Dalrek

With The Buried Sea expansion fast approaching, Raging Fury is looking to reinforce our current raidforce with some new people. It is no secret that TSS was tough on several people, but like always they stuck with us to see TSS defeated. Unfortunately after finishing the expansion and being in farm mode for a month, people loose the thrill of progressing and some decided it is time to move on to reallife adventures. A big thank you to those people who helped bring us to the top of the game year after year. I am sure you will be successfull in whatever you choose to do in RL

Fortunately for YOU, this means we have a few openings for people eager to experience the best of what raiding can be like in EQ. We are looking for players that are happy with their class, who still has a desire to play EQ and not any other newly released games. We are looking for highly motivated players who are willing to work on Solteris flagging and dont mind showing up night after night for wipes while we learn the new challenges that lie ahead of us and who are willing to stay when the boredom of farming hits us after we complete TBS. You have to be a teamplayer and be able to keep a positive attitude even when things dont go our way.

If you think you match this description, then please contact our recruiter Illandra or any of the officers, even this grumpy dorf in game, via the board or e-mail. All classes welcome, though some will have higher requirements than others based on current needs. High priority will be given to a couple of clerics, paladin, shadowknight, ranger and necro at this point, but if you can convince us that we need you, then please do so

10.03.2007 Brief TBS update! by Dalrek

Another brief update just to meet my monthly Deadline for frontpage updates

The Buried Sea expansion has arrived and ofcourse Raging Fury has flagged ourself in a great team effort from everyone. We still tear up Ashengate and Frostcrypt, but I doubt anyone is interesteed in hearing about this again. So instead I will bring you a nice picture of our adventures guild sitting at the Sisters event in Solteris, throne of Ro, admiring our guildbanner. Not that there is much time for slacking in that zone. We are working on the event and we are improving and it is looking good so far. It is definitely not a walkover, but we will get it done. We always do.

Solteris Group pic

We are fortunate to have several people on the way from other servers to join our ranks and might close recruting soon, but for now we are still open for an enchanter, a wizard, couple of paladins and shadowknights, a necro and a bard. Gnomes extra wanted!

You will find all info needed to apply on our forum as well as in links on this frontpage. Expect us to have some exciting news for you soon.

15.04.2007 Sisters take a dirtnap! by Dalrek

I have been putting off updating the frontpage cause I felt we were close to having some big news to announce, and here you have it: Raging Fury gets another scalp in our belt as we take yet another serverfirst kill by defeating the infamous Mayong's Mistresses event in Solteris

The Sister event... what can be said about this event. It is mean and unforgiving. It is unlike most other endgame raids cause you did not have alot of flagging to do and no other raids to kill to unlock this event. It has been accesible to pretty much every guild in Everquest that was interested in trying it since the first week after TBS launched. I think it is safe to say that not alot of guilds will be able to walk over this event no matter how easy the flagging for Solteris was. The road has been frustrating for alot of people cause it simply seemed unbeatable for our guild due to lacking DPS. I still find it funny that the first guilds to beat this said it is not about DPS. Ofcourse you cannot neglect your healers, curers, slowers etc but this is not an event where you just compensate by offtanking, kiting and more maintank switches cause the fight takes longer due to low DPS. That being said, I agree with what others have said that the fight is highly customizeable and takes alot of tweaking

If I heard correctly in guildchat last night, someone said he had around 150 entries in his log with failures on this event. Ofcourse that includes attempts where we wiped halfway and even aborting right after starting, but I think this shows the determination we have put into beating this. Eventually we found the setup that works for our guild and the people we have on raids and we found the focus that is definitely needed to execute the tactics you need to win. So I am happy to say that while some events in TSS left the impression that they were too easy and there wasnt really much cheering since it did no feel that much like a victory, this fight definitely gives a sense of accomplishment when you finally beat it

Woots

Other guilds have made a big deal out of posting their raidcomposition on the winning attempt. I am not gonna bother doing that. I dont consider us a DPS guild, but pretty balanced actually, so instead I will just show some of the action and a scrapbook picture of the winning team. That team obviously includes members that wasnt online that specific day but came each day and helped us beat this. They deserve a place in that pic as much as anyone else, right next to our secret weapon

Congratulations to Sidarx and Fulast on their new bracers

Pristine Energeiac Plate Bracer Hardened Energeiac Leather Wristguard

And congratulations to Illandra and Bebop on each getting a shiny new ring

While we are filling up nicely and are having full raids again now thanks to some nice new additions, we are still interested in hearing from a few more people, especially a wizard, necromancer, paladin to name a few. You are able to see the full list here! Both native AB players as well as servertransfers are more than welcome to apply. Once you make up your mind, please send us your info either as PM or preferably via e-mail here: Apply! and we will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also contact Illandra or Corvard as well as any officer online.

18.05.2007 Raging Fury is recruting! by Dalrek

After having defeated the first event in Solteris and adding this to our weekly clearing schedule, we are now looking for a handful of dedicated people that want to be part of Raging Fury's quest to conquer the rest of the zone Is your guild struggling with progression or motivation? Drama getting a bit too tense? Have you outgrown them and reached your potential where you are? Or do you simply just need a change of scenery and a fresh breath of air? - Then maybe the solution could be to apply for a spot with us. We offer highly motivated people that all strive to improve their chars and the guild. Who take a pride in accomplishments and dont quit when the going gets tough. Experience the best of what EQ has to offer in terms of raiding and do this in a low-drama and friendly, competitive atmosphere We offer you a chance to get your skills tuned to the max, we will test you to your limits and beyond, but you will also taste the Sweet taste of victory, being among the first in the game to beat new encounters. Year after year We are looking for, in no particular order:

  • 1-2 clerics
  • 1-2 paladins
  • 1-2 necromancers
  • 1 enchanter
  • 1 magician
  • 1 shaman
  • 1 ranger
  • 1 wizard
  • 1 berserker
  • 1 bard

We get application every day, so this list changes all the time. Check our forum for the most current needs

I am proud to say we are back in full force. For todays event we had 63 people online after adding another excellent batch of recruits and also cause the Raging Fury army was smelling victory approaching.

We are a pretty well balanced guild and always have been. Always had a great cleric team and super supportclasses. Add to that a strong tank team and because of sisters, now also a fair deal of dps and you have a nice mix of classes that should be able to deal with whatever you send at us that doesnt just focus on one thing. We have tried to balance our raids between farming TSS and progressing in TBS while slowly getting a few keyclasses that we lacked. Result is an all-round wellgeared guild and Solteris will get a taste of what we are like when we get rolling

When we did the sister event, I could have sworn that was probably one of the toughest events I had ever seen. Ofcourse, by then I hadn't seen the Aprosis event yet. I was a bit discouraged by our first attempts on Aprosis. So much chaos. Soemhow we succeeded in controlling this chaos and I have a newfound respect for our mezzers and offtank team. It didn't take us nearly as many attempts to get this down as we had on sisters. Maybe because you dont have as strict a timer and you can choose to go less dps and instead go in a bit more controlled manner. For a guild like ours, this is perfect. We ended last week with a wipe to Aprosis with him being at 0%. So atleast we knew it was doable with some luck on the random generator on adds and a very tiny bit of tuning the final stages. Most importantly, it was doable without any cheesy tactics. Just straight up oldschool tanking, healing, mezzing and alot of praying for good luck. So today we went back, determined to finally put Aprosis and his henchmen behind us. After a couple of "warm-up" runs, we decided to push our dinnerbreak back a bit for another attempt while we were focused. Good decision. Orc went well, adds went smooth and even Aprosis settled in after a bit of a rough start. Slowly, but steady he was going. Can't say it was flawless since I was among the Dead myself and not just mages and halflings on the casualtylist, but it was a a nice run that brought the adrenalin up and even at 10% there was the risk of a wipe. Quite a rush. And from the screenshot below, you can see the relief and sense of accomplishmen these kind of fights bring

Woots

I must admit I was a bit busy during the event, so didn't have alot of time to stop and enjoy the scenery and take pictures. You will have to settle for one very Dead vampire and the winning team that was online today and took him out in an amazing display of teamwork

Aprosis the Fourth Confidant Team

Congratulations to Sidarx and Kikthin on their new gauntlets

And likewise to our two stabbers Chapox and Infectorz on their new weapons.

Blade of the Cursed Staff of the Invaders

As always, I will end with the usual recruiting speech. We are lucky enough that we dont have to hunt down people, but are getting a nice steady stream of people interesting in joining our great guild. Most spots have been filled, but I do believe we still have a few vacant spots for specific classes like a wizard, an enchanter, a berzerker to name a few. You are able to see the full list Here! Servertransfers are welcome to apply, we have quite a few of those and have good experiences with it. Please send us your info either as PM or preferably via e-mail here:
Apply! and we will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also contact Illandra, Abadonn or Sharifa as well as any officer online.

12.06.2007 Yes, you heard right! by Dalrek

Just a brief update to confirm that we did indeed kill the Balreth event in Solteris just a couple days after Aprosis went down.

Rear Guard Captain Balreth

I will keep this short for two reasons. I think the Aprosis update is still bigger news and deserve the spotlight a bit longer and second I think we will see an update about a Dead event 4 before too long and Im too lazy to do 3 updates so close together.

So stay tuned for more

26.06.2007 Howling at the moon no longer! by Dalrek

One day Kikthin was wandering through the woods in his pink hooded cape on his way to visit his grandmother. Once there, to his horror, he found his grandmother gone and a big mean wolf sleeping in her bed instead. "My, what big teeth you have" said Kikthin and the wolf replied "That's so I better can eat you!". Kikthin screamed "No way!", kicked the wolf in a very special place and ran to the guild hall and gathered up all the Raging Fury troops. Soon we were on our way

After testing some stuff as always and wiping several times, we made a nice little battleplan, wiped some more, changed plan etc etc. Tonight we executed it and you see the result below

And we lived happily ever after. Well, until tomorrow atleast..

28.06.2007 He should have seen it coming.. by Dalrek

What can I say..we have never been the fastest starters, but once we get rolling, we are unstoppable. I cant even keep up with making frontpage updates like this. Just 2 days after we defeated Astire, the Lunar Eclipe, we laid the smackdown on Irissa the Seer

With our copenhagen RL gathering past us, I guess I can not postpone this update any longer, although I am still somewhat in shock over discovering that Kithin is not really pink in RL and Xack does not have a tail to name just a few surprises!

Actually this is not really news anymore, cause while I was slacking on the update, we went ahead and killed Irissa one more time and even made a brief visit to Commodus, supposedly the toughest encounter in the zone. As promised, I do have a few pictures this time, courtesy of various other guildmembers since I was actually sitting outside in Katta trying to get the Astire update done when guildchat was flooded with WOOOOOOTs from the first kill

First of we have a couple of action shots

irissa1 irissa2

And ofcourse the mandatory guild photo

team3

The Irrissa event gave access to TBS arms and while the whole phospene cluster system allows people to buy lesser armor pieces instead of arms, I do believe that we got some nice Gleaming Energeiac Chain Sleeves for Hohyed, Pristine Energeiac Plate Vambraces for Illandra and Phased Energeiac Silk Sleeves for Fuzzy. As well as 2 x Silver Earring of Ephemeral Healing for Trebung and Aderel and along with that a Black Dirk of Shrouded Fate for Mensox and last but definitely not least a brand new Venomous Fang of the Seer for Calen. All in all a nice round of upgrades

Looking forward to presenting you with some pictures of the Commodus event as soon as possible

19.07.2007 Six down, one to go! by Dalrek

The Buried Sea expansion is nearing an end. Finally we can see the light at the end of a long and dark tunnel as we take yet another step through Solteris. We do so by walking all over Commodus, the Solar Construct. Once again an encouter that fits our guild composition as a very balanced, allround guild and once again an amazing performance after working on the event for some days. We are definitely looking forward to going back and see what new challenges this event has in store for us after the upcoming patch. For now, we take pride in the fact that we have beaten all but the last event in the zone

Once again I was slacking on my tankduties and running around taking pictures instead, just to present you with some of the coolest endgame mobs in the game. But don't tell anyone!

Commodos, Solar Construct

Even though Commodus fell at our feet at such a time where we would normally call it a night aferwards, we decided to go take a look at the final encounter in the zone. Thankfully there wasnt as many mobs towards Mayong as I had feared, so I managed to stay awake even during the trashclearing and snap a picture or two of one of the nicer models and eventually we reached the final event with Solusek Ro and Mayong Mistmoore facing each other. Actually we even took a quick testrun on the event, but I think will save those snapshots for the update when we kill them and finish the expansion. So look forward to seeing that here

Trash Solusek Ro and Mayong Mistmoore

Once again the progression rings get a nice upgrade in stats

A Brightly Glowing Combine Signet Ring A Brightly Glowing Combine Signet Ring

We even managed to rake in a couple of other pieces of loot with Kikthin getting new greaves and Darx getting a new neck. Also Tamarea aquired a fancy new shield: Bulwark of the Firebringer

Sanguine Energeiac Plate Greaves Firetooth Necklace of the Below

So the stage is set and hopefully we will have the needed turnout to finish off the last 2 bad guys despite summer holidays being upon us and we will have another update ready for you very soon
