Dear revered reader of the Raging Fury news!

I am rather proud of myself! I have managed to reach a new level of slackness by giving you the last news from 2014 almost four weeks into 2015 - a new record even by my standards!

There have been different reasons why the number of news has been extremely low, some of them indeed strictly related to my personal life, but part of the praise for this new level of sloth belongs to SOE also, as they are continuing down the road of smaller releases when it comes to the raid game. It simply does not make me very enthusiastic to post about one of five raids in total, even though I have to admit that these raids are not a simple "walk in the park", not at all. Raging Fury has beaten the first three events so far even though we reduced our raid days quite a bit during the last days of 2014 due to the celebrations going on at that time of year.

Also there was our traditional RL meeting in Nottingham again in December, organized once again by our dear Illandra, where the loot was simply far better than some old dusty Breastplate in a chest in Arx!

But why don't you judge by yourself, would YOU pass on delicious Tapas, pitchers of Long Island Ice Tea and the company of friendly folks like these?

RL Meeting in Nottingham: Las Iguanas

Well, as it was so nice on Friday evening, we simply had to travel around the world on Saturday at the Red Hot World Buffet after watching the last Hobbit movie together in IMAX. Sorry, but whatever battles we fight in EverQuest, they cannot compete (at least not for me).

RL Meeting in Nottingham: Red Hot World Buffet

To be perfectly honest, EverQuest doesn't have the same appeal to me as it once had, but meeting people from around Europe (or from the states for that matter *waves to the folks from the meeting in Vegas in October*) just shows what a tremendous impact it has had on many people over the years. Those friendships keep me in a game that is certainly neither as beautiful in its graphics nor as modern as so many other games. EverQuest simply has a community unparalleled in any other game I have tried out so far and to me that is a very important part of it.

Anyway, back to the current expansion, The Darkened Sea.

Some long time players will have noticed the similarity of the name to The Buried Sea from 2007 - and certain aspects indeed have been taken over, for example the small number of raids (mind you, back then expansions were coming out twice a year and "low" meant 7 events in TBS versus 5 in TDS). Oh, and if you wondered. no there is still no "ship-to-ship-combat", which was promised us back then in 2007 - what a surprise!

As written before we have only beaten 3 out of 5 raids, but as to this time this is a fate shared by most guilds in EverQuest we aren't too depressed (yet). The usual suspects from ROI have finished it quite some time ago, so my customary congratulation once again to them - well done!

We ourselves have been working on event 4 and I hope we will see some progress there soon, but our members get distracted so easily and then log in late:

Attractive Neighbours!

Of course our raid leaders and officers are ALWAYS focused:

Wax on!

Well OK, maybe not always, but we do stick to a topic, once we work on it!

Wax Off!

All in all we are simply doing some magic though to make Raging Fury a fun place to be:

Bunnies are magical!

Want to be a part of a guild which has fun while raiding (maybe sometimes too much fun?), then contact Fehu, Dantius or Illandra or one of the officers, we have spots in many classes open.

OK; this is the last news update for 2014, I shall see, what I can do about 2015. Expect an update upon finishing the expansion at least (yes, that IS a promise!)

Just a small update: today Raging Fury has beaten the ruler of the Corrupted Temple of Veeshan, the mighty Vulak'Aerr himself as first guild on AB and fourth serverwide

Mighty Vulak

After our victory over King Xorbb we finally had our hands free to turn towards the revamped version of the old Northern Temple of Veeshan, which brought back many memories to the old raid players. Although one could clearly see, that raiding back then was far simpler (tank and spank), nonetheless it felt relaxing just beating stuff up and not having to worry too much.

Vulak himself though proved to be quite a bit more challenging and so the fight was indeed complex enough to get a feeling of accomplishment after downing him and being able to call ourselves "Vanquisher of Rain of Fear":

Vanquisher of Rain of Fear

I guess we will add NToV to our farming plan now and then, was OK to do :)

What a start into the new year: today Raging Fury defeated the The Return of King Xorbb, the final event in Rain of Fear, the latest expansion of EverQuest.

Before I come to anything else, here is the traditional picture of the victorious Raging Fury force:

RF victory

This is another shot, including the Evil Eye King Xorbb himself - not so evil anymore:

Xorbb is dead

And here is the loot we got from Xorbb (sadly no Bag of Sewn Evil-Eye, that would have rocked!):

Robe/BP Brutal Frostbite of the Valley Master Xorbbs Rod of Retribution

So this was the final event, beaten one month after the release of the expansion, including a time of reduced raiding for the holidays? Well, at least this is the status of that event for now, but there are strong hints towards some additional content before the next expansion comes out (you may have noticed the additional three portals getting raised in Shard's Landing if you play the game) and most certainly we in Raging Fury are looking forward to additional content, more specifically raid content, because otherwise this will have been the shortest expansion raidwise since LoY...

Seriously, the first guild (Realm of Insanity) finished the last event one week after the release of RoF with the second (Machin Shin) only a week behind, followed by 4 other guilds before christmas - kudos to all of them.

And what about Raging Fury? As usual RF started a bit slower than other high end guilds, but got into gear pretty well in the end. Sadly, given the fact that this expansion was more a sprint than anything else, we couldn't make up for that slow start and thus finished it only after our small christmas break as the seventh guild serverwide, still quite a respectable result I would say. Nonetheless I hope for additional raid tiers so that maybe in the end we can still maintain our spot among the top #5 once RoF is really finished...

As the expansion was so short, I didn't post any news before, so I will give a few pictures of other raid events for you to enjoy:

This is from The Madness of King Tormax (and yes, that's Yelinak, I know)

Danella's Stand:

Zeixshi-Kar's Shard:

The Queen's Decree:

Queen Grelleth

A Feast for Zalikor:

Guardian of the Gate:

Guardian of the Gate

That last event (also known as Xorbb #1) was actually the hardest in the expansion, not so much because of the complexity itself, but due to the fact that it is extremely poorly tuned and as such can only be beaten other than the obviously intended way.

Or to put it in other words:

Rambo

Aren't we all a bit like Rambo sometimes?

Well, I guess you can't be afraid of dieing when you do events like that, even when you try to avoid certain dangers:

Balls

The event brought evil ideas into people's minds (totally un-RF-like!)

Evil dots

Normally the members of Raging Fury are well known and respected across the server!

Daze is wellknown

But also some of the other events had surprises, especially for our RLs. I remember Insaneox asking Queen Grelleth happily to be sacrificed for her dinner table (sorry, I laughed so hard I forgot to take a screenshot), and also Odysias had an accident:

Ody triggers the event

Nonetheless I am very proud of my guild, because during the last few events I have once again seen the drive and passion which seemed a bit lost after such a long farming time (the fact that the first events were beaten that fast didn't help either, I guess).

I want to thank especially our raid leaders who have done a really great job together with our whole strategy team.

I also want to express my gratitude towards our recruiters for the excellent work they have done during the long months of farming to keep the guild in a healthy state, well done, Ladies!

Thanks also to the rest of the officer team as well as to all those trailblazers who got through the quests fast so we could request the raids - especially in such a short expansion people like you are a tremendous asset to any guild!

Last but not least I want to thank every member of Raging Fury for making this guild the way it is: a hardcore raiding guild with a generally relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Congratulations, Raging Fury, well done again!

Just a short flash update: Today Raging Fury has downed its first Tier 4 raid in the current expansion, making us the fifth guild serverwide to beat this indeed very challenging event.

As it's late I will just put in one picture of the "big bad boss":

Pillars Boss

And here are the usual cheers and some lore:

Once again a really great performance by everyone!

24.01.2010 The Fury and the Beast by Imrahil

Once upon a time in Norrath there was a guild called Raging Fury. It was among the most daring guilds existing in all of EverQuest and so one day it ventured into a cold and desolate place in the domain of Brell Serilis called "The Cooling Chambers". Down there our guild found a gargantuan beast resting on an island in the middle of the cave:

Grunkuck the Beast

Daring as our guild was, it attacked the fierce beast with all its might, learning by pain and suffering, that for some victories you have to labor hard and long. During the fight the guild found out many details about its fearsome foe, not the smallest of it being about the female gender of the giant creature:

yes i will fight - no i will port away and sulk, yes i will ...

Many an attempt was made to strike down the gargantuan enemy, until on a glorious night the valiant guild didn't succumb to the claws of the Beast, its mate or their hungry children. They stood strong and finally stroke down the last of their foes, so that a mighty cheer of victory arose:

Cheers

'The harder the foe, the bigger the triumph' can be said, and truly, a formidable foe the Beast had been! So all assembled on the spot, where once the Beast had had its lair to see which treasures it might hold:

Group pic

There was much rejoicing when Raging Fury could behold what was hidden inside the creature's lair apart from two sets of gauntlets: a precious ring and a mighty sword

Lake-Cooled Greatsword Strongest Link

So much for this week's 'Fairie Tale Hour', in a historical context I can just say that this raid was the hardest I had to work on for quite some time, so keep up the good work on those raids in Underfoot, SOE!

And now a final word from our research department:

More money is spent on boob jobs and viagra than on alzheime...

That's all for now folks, next update when we got enough flags for the next tier raids!

05.01.2010 Only a dead bug is a good bug by Imrahil

The new expansion is out since the 15th of December officially, so you are waiting desperately for news from Raging Fury?

OK, I don't want to disappoint you, here we go:
Shortly before our annual christmas break (a few people in RF actually DO have a life outside of EQ!) we went to that overgrown puppy in Brell's Rest and sent it home with its tail between its legs. Fippy never was an adversary worth mentioning, but this incarnation at least provided some resistance looks at the bite marks in his armor. Slack as I am, I haven't made any screenshots, so no more information there..

Would you like to know more?

Of course you would! So the next adversary was a bug army and it had some nasty surprises ready:

Bug army

So after we blasted through the millions (so it seemed) of smaller bugs, finally also the big one woke up:

Big one

As we had some of his nastier underlings also plowing through our ranks, I took it upon myself to deal with this mighty adversary! Look at this picture and you see what I am about to do:

Bug

But as we finally turned all of our attention to Mr. Big Ugly Bug himself, we exterminated him easily, thus ending the Cliknar Invasion

Protauris Protauris Sithirhin

So, 2 down, 1 to go in T6, stay tuned for the next news!

PS: We are still looking for a few players to fill the gaps, but hurry, they won't stay open forever.

Clerics, Berserkers and Wizards

are the classes we are mainly looking for, but we have single spots open for some other classes as well, so check our recruitment section for details.

Not among the classes we have currently open? Don't despair yet! We do accept applications of exceptional players from many of the other classes as well, so speak to our recruiters Illandra, Nalelini or Zorland or talk to an officer if you would like to know more ;)
